  • Ground exams (DGCA)
  • Flying experience (200 hours)
  • Medical fitness (Class 1)
  • English proficiency (ICAO Level 4+).
  • Plus: WPC RTR(A) Certificate of Proficiency for operating aircraft radios in India.
  • Minimum age to enroll: 17 years at start of program.
  • DGCA requirement: CPL can be ISSUED at 18 years of age.
  • Education: 10+2 (Class 12) with Physics & Mathematics preferred
  • Students without physics and mathematics may clear it through NIOS
  • Valid ID & documents: Aadhaar/Passport, 10th & 12th marksheets, PAN, photographs
  • Class 2 Medical (initial): Start of training/SPL - conducted by DGCA empaneled Class 2 examiners.
  • eGCA PMR creation → Centralized appointment for Class 1 medical at Private/ IAF centers.
  • Class 1 Medical: Mandatory for CPL issuance
  • Typical checks: Vision (incl. color perception), hearing, ECG, blood tests, chest X-ray, BMI, medical history.
  • Renewal: Class 1 validity typically 12 months (6 months above 60 years).
  • Core Subjects: Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology, Air Regulations, Technical General.
  • Technical Specific: For the aircraft type you want to fly
  • To apply for exams – You need a computer number , applied via pariksha portal
  • Passing standards: 70% minimum required
  • Every 3 months once general attempt of DGCA exams will be scheduled and every month DGCA On line on demand exams will be conducted
  • RTR(A) - Part I: written exam with minimum score of 70%, Part II : Practical

Abroad Flying Pathway

  • If you train abroad with an ICAO CPL (FAA, EASA, CASA, SACAA, etc.) :
  • You only need to pass 3 DGCA exams :
        1. Air Regulations
        2. Aviation Meteorology
        3. Air Navigation
  • Additionally: DGCA Class 1 Medical, RTR(A) licence, and Skill Test in India.
